At Vision Center, we’re committed to preserving all of our patient’s vision and providing them with the best in Medford eyeglasses. That’s why we carry only the highest quality contact lenses, eyewear, and frames. We’re proud to present you with our wide selection of optical goods, and our knowledgeable staff is on hand to help you choose frames you’ll fall in love with and to answer any questions you may have.

We do carry designer frames but also more cost-friendly frames so that we have something that fits everyone’s budget. Our Medford eyeglasses range from designer high end eyeglasses and sunglasses to the more budget friendly options that our clients can look through and choose from. Our budget eyeglasses still adhere to the same quality standards as any of our other high end eyewear, and we also carry a wide range of name brand contact lenses. Many people choose to wear contact lenses for their comfort and visibility, with soft contact lenses being the most popular due to their versatility and comfort level. Soft lenses come in options such as daily use contacts, extended nighttime wear contacts, and in color changing options. Hard contact lenses can take longer to get used to, but the benefit is that they offer sharper vision to the wearer once they’ve gotten used to them.

Hard contact lenses also correct the most severe nearsightedness and astigmatism, which is perfect for those who want to make the switch from eyeglasses to contact lenses. Should you need contact lenses or to order Medford eyeglasses, simply make an appointment to come in or call one of our eyewear specialists. We’re open convenient hours in order to accommodate our patients and give them the best care possible. We also offer six convenient locations to better serve our patients and we’re open six days a week. We offer comprehensive exams, contact lens and eyeglass fittings, and even eyeglass repair, making us a one stop eye center that can serve all your eyewear and eyecare needs. We’re a family owned and operated practice as well, allowing us to give you the attention you deserve.

Queens Optical Store

Our Queens optical store has a variety of products centered on improving your vision, and allowing you to do so comfortably, and in style. At Vision Center, we take pride in carrying a wide array of designer frames for housing your eyeglass lenses, and a full line of contact lenses, both soft and hard. Furthermore, our expert advice and recommendations will guide you to making the best selection; one that suits your perfectly.

For those who prefer eyeglasses, there are great reasons to do so. Aside from the very obvious benefits of eyesight improvement, glasses are ideal for those who cannot bear the thought of putting something in their eyes. And, of course, there is no risk of getting eye irritation or an eye infection with glasses from our Queens optical store. Our optometrist will do a comprehensive exam, and if you do need a new or updated prescription for eyeglass lenses, you will be able to have it filled right here. Now, what kind of frames are going to surround those lenses? The only possible problem you will encounter is narrowing down your choice from all of the fantastic possibilities. No matter what your taste, facial shape, skin tone, or budget, we have the right frames for you, each emblazoned with the name of a brand that you recognize and trust. Just a sampling of the designers we represent are Tiffany & Co., Silhouette, Dior, Polo, Prada, and Michael Kors. And there’s so much more.

Our Queens optical store also has only the finest names in contact lenses. Among them are Bausch & Lomb, CibaVision, CooperVision, Vistakon, and Unilens. You can get soft lenses, including daily wear, extended wear, disposable, and color-changing. Hard contacts, also known as rigid or gas-permeable, provide sharper and clearer vision than soft lenses, but they may take more time for you to grow accustomed to wearing them. And if you have astigmatism, don’t worry. Today’s contacts are available in bifocal and multifocal varieties, too. You can rest assured that the products you need for vision correction will always be found here. And in the unlikely event that you don’t, we’ll do our best to find it for you.

Today’s eyeglass frames can be made from many fashionable materials, as well as durable ones. Plastic reinforced frames can resist impact, while Memory Metal can truly roll with the punches to simply return to its original shape unscathed. Polycarbonate lenses can resist greater forces of impact than any other, and can be coated with photochromic material to protect your eyes in any light. You can find coatings today from your trusted Moriches eyeglass store to stop glare and even fog from impeding your sight.

Contact lenses and eyeglasses have numerous advantages and disadvantages between them, and the question on which is right for you truly depends on the life you lead and your own personal and optical needs. Protect Your Eyes From Digital Devices with Vision Centers in Long Island and Queens New York

With all the advances in technology over the past decade, it seems that you don’t go anywhere without carrying some kind of device to keep you connected. Whether its a new tablet, a smartphone, or a laptop, we are constantly looking and becoming absorbed in screens. But many people don’t think about the impact it can have on our eye health and vision. Your Long Island and Queens optometrists at Vision Center are not suggesting you forget about this technology, but we offer a few tips for digital device usage that is both healthy and necessary for your vision health.

Eye strain is a common occurrence with digital devices, but many consumer forget that technology is meant to be ergonomic and conform to our standards. Just because the default setting of your smartphone or tablet has small text, doesn’t mean you can’t change it! Adjust your environment to suit your needs and promote healthier eyes. If possible, use a large screen or magnify the screen to reduce eye strain. For chair positioning, be sure to have a chair with excellent lower-back support and keep it close to your computer.

Prevent Eye Strain with Your Long Island Eye Doctors

Lighting is another environmental adjustment that can be made. Not only can you change your monitor settings to a reflective lighting scheme, you should make sure you have good room lighting. Keep the bright lighting overhead to a minimum because it can overexpose and irritate the eyes. But don’t keep it too dim, because too little light causes the eyes to strain in order to see. Vision Center Optometry Long Island suggest that you keep a desk lamp shining on your desk. have window light off to the side rather than in front of in back of you. Position your computer screen to reduce window glare and reflections from overhead lights.

The perfect reading angle is at a slightly downward angle and roughly two feet away from your face. The center of your computer screen or smart phone should be four to six inches below your eyes. Don’t forget that you can adjust the screening setting for optimal brightness and contrast.

As we said before, magnifying the text and images on your device will prevent squinting. Almost every device can be adjusted to display with larger text, which will make reading easier and your eyes will thank you.

Vision Correction at Queens Optometry

Lastly, it seems simple, but don’t forget to blink! Blinking washes your eyes in naturally therapeutic tears, which is a nice refresher for those of you wearing contact lenses. Digital devices are set up for non-stop work, but you don’t have to work non-stop too! Our Queens optometrists suggest you take a break every twenty minutes and look away from your screen for twenty seconds at something farther than ten feet away.

The most common effects of digital overuse are eyestrain, double vision, temporary short-sightedness and visual fatigue. The term eyestrain alone can cover a range of symptoms, including irritation, soreness, photosensitivity and general tiredness. If you suspect that your eyesight is suffering from constant technological use, you may need eyeglasses or contact lenses. Our five optical stores in New York provide comprehensive eye examinations, a large selection of designer eyewear and contact lenses exams and fittings. We have five convenient locations in New York including Bayshore, Farmingdale, Moriches, Greenlawn and Whitestone.
